I came across an interesting post on Reddit by the user “DEAMONzWojSKA” claiming that we are using stolen code.
To clarify this: we are not using any stolen code.
The server was rebuilt based on an old game executable.
This means we decompiled the game executable and recreated the network packet structure, allowing us to understand what the client expects.
The rest is largely trial and error. While this process helps us determine what kind of data the game requires, it doesn’t always tell us exactly how everything is intended to work.
With that said, I would ask that before making any false claims, you take a moment to reconsider.
Spreading misinformation is not helpful.

Hello everyone, this is your News!
We have something important to announce!
As many of you know, I’ve been working in the background on the next major update for some time now.
Since I have a long weekend coming up, I’d like to use this opportunity to roll out the update.
In addition to the update, I’ve noticed that the last full server backup was quite a while ago.
It’s definitely time for a new one.

Here’s the plan:
Thursday: I will create a fresh server backup and archive it properly.
(The server will remain online, but please note that it might experience some temporary sluggishness or reduced performance during the process.)

Friday morning: I’ll begin the update process. Typically, player activity is low at that time, which makes it the perfect window.

I’ve scheduled roughly three hours for the update. Why so long?
I’ve decided to build native Linux versions of the services, which means I’ll need to:

Update the server monitoring tools
Update the server starter
Set up and configure new server builds
Make various additional adjustments

Because of this, the update will take a bit longer than usual.
Please note: The web interface may not be fully functional right after the update, as some API requests still need to be adjusted.
However, everything should be back to normal by the evening, and you’ll be playing on an improved and optimized server.
I’ll also provide a detailed changelog after the update – it’s quite an extensive list!

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

A bit late,
but better than never.
Here's a small update on what's been happening behind the scenes over the past few days.
Let's start with the server itself:
I decided to outsource a few more services.
The lobby server showed that this works well, even with the multiproxys.
As a result, I’ve separated the Race and CRC servers.
The CRC server is almost complete and will soon enter the testing phase.
Both player and official races have been revamped again to ensure they run error-free.
The leaderboards have also been revised to guarantee that only the correct stats are recorded, and no incorrect entries can slip through.
Player photos are now almost fully completed, and uploaded house images should now display correctly.
The user blacklist has been finished as well (needed some Fixes).
The DLC system has been implemented and optimized, and several minor bugs have been fixed.

Since the project is not only about the server, some web work was necessary as well.
However, progress has been slow here, as time is currently limited, and I prefer to focus my available time on the server.
Still, a few features have been added to the new version, such as displaying the weather.
Lobbies for races and free roam have also been made much clearer.
The launcher received a couple of hotfixes as well. As you might have noticed, the server was showing as offline recently due to several DDOS attacks.
To avoid this in the future, I reworked the status ping. The latest update should also finally fix the issue where the launcher wouldn't start for some users.

Currently, a few more "core" features are being refined or fixed. At the moment, the focus is on the MyTDULive profile, which shows odd values in walkable lobbies of other players.

After that, the news section will be updated so that the CRC can be marked as complete.
The clubs have already been migrated, and some bugs have been fixed (they're now an external service).
I had originally hoped to deliver the update before my birthday, but many things would have been unfinished and untested, so I decided to hold off.
We’re not far from completing the entire project (the casino will get a full rework, and only Club vs. Club and house inviting are still missing).

Hello everyone,
first of all: another "news" update? No, not really.
I just wanted to give a quick update on the recent work.
Since I was on vacation, I dedicated my time—how exactly?
Well, to the server. Originally,
I had hoped to release the new update by the end of my vacation,
but unfortunately, that won’t happen as some things are still not finished and most haven’t been thoroughly tested yet.
In the past few days, I’ve invested a lot of time into improving the server.
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but I rebuilt the entire server from scratch.
Some things are pretty much like they used to be, while others have changed.
Additionally, I’ve continued to extract services from the proxy because it makes more sense,
especially if a second server instance should run in the future.
As you know, the lobby server recently received an update, and that’s already the reworked version.
This means it works with both the "beta proxy" and the "live proxy" without needing to switch servers.
The file loader and racing service are also new additions, handling files such as images and races centrally and passing them to the respective proxies.
I’ve made the race server standalone now to make applying updates easier.
Now, the big question: Where do we stand currently?
Well, as mentioned, the proxy, file loader, and race server are finished, which is correct.
The club server has also been completely rewritten, and a few missing elements were discovered here and there.
That’s about it for now (keep in mind, I’m working alone on the code, server, and website, so this is a big step).
Since the server was rewritten from scratch, the web interface also needs to be updated. I’ve worked on it intermittently so that at least the "user" functions are working for now.
What’s left on the list? Well, there are two "servers" still waiting for a rewrite:
The CRC Center, which will fix some issues and bring the ORC back, and the casino, which will take a bit more work.
As the old players know, the slots had a different "feel" back then, and that’s what I’m aiming to recreate in PP2.
Since I’ll be back at work next week, I won’t be able to invest as much time as I did over the past few days.

So don’t expect a finished update this month.

A small list of the changes so far? Sure, here it is:

General:

Proxy Server: Packet handling and player handling have been optimized.

Game Login: In case of forgotten passwords, I’ve added new features that make resetting easier.

Resource Usage: The proxy and external servers have been extremely improved, resulting in lower CPU usage and reduced RAM consumption. They can now handle more (currently simulated) players than the old server.

Error-proneness: This has been further reduced.

Changes in Game Features:

Friends List: Should now work smoothly, whether you’re adding friends or loading the list.

Blacklist: The blacklist has also been improved, allowing it to communicate with other servers (lobby, races). This feature will be reactivated after the update.

TDUMyLive: Has been completely finalized (sorting, images) and now syncs with other servers. It’s also now available in race lobbies and the casino.

House Images: These have been adjusted to synchronize correctly during house invitations.

Lobby Server: Smal issues fixed, On Island Change Spot Change to dedect it better (Is already Live)

Race Lobby Server: Fixes have been applied for club races. On the current server, it was possible for non-members to join a club-only race, causing a bug where the player was falsely listed as a club member.

Fileloader: The entire structure has been changed to better assign images and races to users.

Club Join/Leave: This has finally been properly fixed. I tested it a hundred times before (joining/leaving/kicking) and, as always, found no errors

Club Requests/Invites: Should now function as intended.

Club News: Missing news items have been identified and added (e.g., club spot changes, two bugs have been fixed).

Player Stats: These have also been completed. We now collect nearly all the data the game provides, but we don’t store everything. If there are interesting stats to discuss, we can consider storing them.

Database Structure: The entire structure has been revised. The old server stored too much unnecessary data, which caused the database to grow significantly over the last two years. I’ve changed the layout, making the size significantly smaller.

I think that’s about it for now. Want to see a few pictures? Sure, we can do that too

It has been some time since our last update,

and as we approach the end of the month,
I would like to provide a comprehensive overview of the recent progress and developments.
I anticipate that some may feel not much has occurred or may question the necessity of this update.
Nonetheless, let's delve into the details.
As mentioned in our previous communication,

I began the process of finalizing the ORC and TDUMyLive modules.
This work has been largely completed. However, the implementation on the old server,
which we referred to as the V2 Core, no longer met our standards. The system became increasingly disorganized and inefficient.
As a result, I initiated the development of the V3 Core.
This leads us to the common queries: why undertake this new development and when will the remaining tasks be completed?
My approach is to ensure that any new system is only rolled out once the existing framework is perfected,
which inherently means this process will take additional time.

Regarding the new server, significant enhancements have been made. The server now operates with greater performance,
can support more clients, and has undergone extensive bug fixing (Found small errors in the packet reader myself ).
The following components have been completed: Profiles, Userblacklist, MyTDULive, and Player Stats (excluding Casino Stats), Moderation, Div. Playerrequest Functions.
Additionally, the file loader has been revamped (Many functions are external, which are no longer required on the proxy),
and the logging system has been restructured to facilitate easier moderation for our administrators.
I have also completed the functionality to correct "Last Seen" players. If they had a savegame from previous days, the player list will now be accurately updated.
The new server is currently in a beta phase, allowing us to monitor its performance and address any emerging issues.
Looking ahead, our next major milestone is the completion of the new proxy. Upon its finalization,
the CRC will release an update that includes the ORC and several enhancements.

Following this, our focus will shift directly to the lobby server, where a few elements are still missing and some minor issues need resolution.
Once these tasks are completed, I will revisit the casino module. Our research has indicated that the slots originally exhibited different in-game behavior,
featuring multiline support which is absent in the current version. We aim to restore this functionality to align with the original gameplay experience.
In summary, while the journey towards these enhancements is ongoing, each step is critical to ensure we deliver a robust and high-performing system.
Your patience and continued support are greatly appreciated as we work towards these goals.

Additionally, I have completely overhauled the moderation system.
This means that all text-based inputs are now checked for inappropriate language.
User images can now be banned (a native game feature). Here are some images:

I have also developed several tools that make it visually easier for me to identify problems.
With the entire RUDP system now running bidirectionally between client and server,
it is simpler for me to detect packet loss.
Additionally, these tools display several important pieces of information, as shown in the images.
By the way, PP2 is the only community server that utilizes the game's RUDP layer and properly acknowledges packets.

Hello everyone,
As always, we're here to announce some small progress. Now that we have a forum, I can share the progress updates here.
Regarding last month's update: Many of you might have noticed that the lobby service has been revamped.
We've discarded the server-created lobbies and, after much deliberation, found a solution to have players create the lobbies themselves.
This means the server now only sends the player data to the host. Once the host confirms the player's acceptance, the player is marked as "in lobby" If this does not happen,
another host is tried, or the host themselves is sent to the player, depending on the situation. This ensures that ghost lobbies are now a thing of the past.
The lobby server is not yet fully developed. Functions such as blocked players,
prioritized players (like friends), and house inviting still need to be implemented and repaired.

This Month's Update

Regarding this month's update, we can say that it will affect the CRC.
We are now able to bring back official races.
This feature is still in development, and as part of this process, the file loader will be overhauled.
Unfortunately, this will require users to re-upload their images. However,
over time, we have found that the file structure can be handled much better and more efficiently,
and we will be implementing these improvements.
For the ORC itself, we had to build a small tool that allows us to push these races.
This means we are now able to read and understand the .Ig2 race files,
which will also have an impact on the CRC, which will undergo some additional revisions.
When this update will be released is still uncertain, but we will keep you informed.
